Antonio Felix Da Costa claimed a late victory during the Cape Town E-Prix, after pulling off a thrilling move on Jean-Eric Vergne.

The Frenchman took advantage of a mistake from the Porsche driver, who failed to take the Attack Mode while leading, which put him briefly in the lead.

But during added time due to an earlier safety car, Da Costa was given an extra two laps to attack Vergne and used it to pull off a move through the high speed and tight Turn 8 section.

Championship leader Pascal Wehrlein crashed out on the opening lap after contact with Sebastien Buemi, which caused the Safety Car.

Elsewhere, second-placed driver in the championship Jake Dennis dropped out of the points after being given a drive-through penalty for not respecting the minimum tyre pressures.

Pole man Sacha Fenestraz crashed out on the final lap duelling for the final podium spot, which promoted Nick Cassidy and Buemi into the top five.
