Consolation prize for Verstappen and Red Bull at the Bahrain GP

While Max Verstappen and Red Bull might not have won the season opening race in Bahrain, the Red Bull pitcrew added yet another DHL Fastest F1 pitstop award.

One area where Red Bull F1 team have consistently triumphed over Mercedes is with respect to their pitstops. The Austrian team are renowned for their effortless sub-two-second stops and in Bahrain the team once again helped Verstappen as best they could by changing all four of his tyres in 1.93 seconds. This meant that the Red Bull pit crew won the first DHL Fastest Pitstop award for the season. Mercedes on the other hand once again bungled a pitstop in the Middle Eastern Kingdom, with the German squad struggling to replace Valtteri Bottas' front right tyre. The Mercedes team could only manage a best of 2.42 seconds for Hamilton meaning that they only had the seventh quickest stop during the season opener. Perhaps this is one aspect that they will have to focus on in a season of fine margins. The full list of all ten team's quickest pitstop stops can be viewed below
