Classic Video: Massive crash at the 2010 Indy 500

The Indy 500 is one of the world's most prestigious races, however, given that it is run on Indianapolis' oval layout it is also one of the most dangerous races in the world. The video below illustrates how quickly things can go wrong at America's most prestigious race.

The Indianapolis 500 is known for its speed. With cars often exceeding 220 mph it is not uncommon for cars to tangle with each other in turn causing a spectacular accident. In 2010 British driver Mike Conway tried lunging down the inside of Ryan Hunter-Reay's car, his gambit proved to be unsuccessful and the Britsh Conway was sent careening into the catch fence almost beheading Hunter-Reay in the process. Both drivers luckily survived the incident with Hunter-Reay winning the Indycar title in 2012. The video can be viewed below.
