Back behind the wheel of an F1 car after 44 days, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc began his preparation for the upcoming 2021 season by driving around the Fiorano track in Ferrari's 2018 SF71H car. Completing over 100 laps, the two-time race winner conducted a series of exercises including practice starts and a general program which should help him prepare for the official pre-season test scheduled between March 12-14. Getting back in the car today was great, in fact it was brilliant!" said a buoyant Leclerc. "Seeing my mechanics again, putting the race suit on, doing my warm-up routine, putting on my helmet and finally jumping in the car and pressing the starter button… the sound of a Ferrari engine is always magic. "The day was simply perfect and we got through all the work we had planned to do. I really enjoyed myself! Now I hand over to Carlos and I wish him the best of luck for tomorrow.” Ferrari new boy Carlos Sainz will get behind the wheel of a Ferrari for the first time on January 27th, the Spaniard will be hoping to acclimatise to his new surroundings quickly.
