Car flips in terrifying Le Mans 24 Hours crash

The #27 Heart of Racing car crashed heavily at Indianapolis whilst trying to allow faster cars past.

A safety car has been deployed in the 2024 Le Mans 24 Hours with just over 16 hours remaining, following a huge crash in the LMGT3 category.

The #27 Heart of Racing Team car flipped over at Indianapolis after going backwards into a barrier at high-speed.

On a drying Circuit de la Sarthe, the Aston Martin Vantage found itself on the wet part of the circuit whilst trying to allow some Hypercars past, resulting in the rear of the car being lost.

The car hit the barrier backwards and then flipped over, in an accident which resulted in shocked faces throughout the paddock.

Thankfully, the driver escaped the huge wreck unscathed despite being heard screaming on the onboard, whilst marshals who dodged flying debris also managed to escape without injury.

The race is being led by the #6 Penske Porsche car.
