Zak Brown believes Lando Norris will carry an "inner belief" forwards after taking his first Formula 1 win in the Miami Grand Prix.

The McLaren driver emerged victorious at the 110th attempt to secure victory in Miami, becoming the 21st Briton to win a grand prix, and first home driver for the team since the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix and Jenson Button.

He defeated Max Verstappen in a straight fight after a safety car restart, with Brown believing that Norris will go from strength to strength.

"Lando drove perfectly and the strategy was spot on, all the men and women at McLaren have just continued to develop this car," Brown told F1TV.

"It just keeps getting faster and faster and today, no-one had anything for him.

"It is great to get that first one out of the way. He didn't make any mistakes, and I just think he's going to go from strength to strength now because he is a grand prix winner, and once you've done it, there's an inner belief that just goes to the next level."

Brown also remembered Gil de Ferran and Mansour Ojjeh after they passed away in 2023 and 2021, respectively.

"The first thing that crossed my mind was Gil and Mansour, who wasn't here to see either of our two wins, and Gil was from Florida," he said.

"I said to Andrea: 'Can I come on the radio without a penalty?' and he said 'Yes.'

"I just wanted to make sure this one was for Gil."
