Ferrari has confirmed Enrico Cardile has left the Italian team "with immediate effect".
The Scuderia has also said that team principal Frederic Vasseur will oversee the Chassis Area of the team.
Cardile was a technical director at the Maranello-based outfit, but has been closely linked with a move to Aston Martin - although any future plans for the Italian aerodynamicist has yet to be revealed.
Ferrari confirmed: "after almost two decades with Ferrari, Cardile has handed in his notice... Everyone at Scuderia Ferrari HP thanks Enrico for all his hard work over so many years."
After the British Grand Prix, Vasseur was asked about Cardile's future, given the speculation suggesting he has already agreed a deal with Aston Martin.
"If Aston Martin want to communicate on something, I'm happy for them," the Frenchman told media including RacingNews365, before confirming that he was still a Ferrari technical director as of that media session.
