Bernie Ecclestone sees Schumacher at this F1 team

The former Formula 1 chief executive can see Mick Schumacher making an interesting move to AlphaTauri.

Former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone believes Mick Schumacher could make a surprise move to AlphaTauri and wants to see the 2020 F2 champion in better machinery. Schumacher, who is in his rookie season, has performed well for Haas with some impressive performances across the nine events so far. "From the beginning, I would have liked him to perhaps go to Alfa Romeo," Ecclestone told Bild. "There he would have had a fast, experienced teammate in Kimi Raikkonen, who at the same time had a very good relationship with his father. "I could well imagine Mick Alpha Tauri as the next team. They do a good job and have an experienced man in Franz Tost who can handle young talents very well. "Mick doesn't know where he really stands as a driver in his current team. To do this, he simply needs a better, more competitive car." Schumacher has outclassed Mazepin so far and Ecclestone feels the German needs a better teammate to see where he stands on the current F1 grid. "He beats his teammate, and that's the most important thing for every driver," said Ecclestone. "However, that doesn't say too much with Mazepin. Mick needs a faster teammate so he knows where he stands."
