Formula E has officially announced 'Evo Sessions', a celebrity-based event which will take place during the calendar's upcoming eight-week break.

Following next month's inaugural Jeddah E-Prix, there is an eight-week gap to the championship's return to Miami in April. To help heal some of the fans pain of the gap, FE has organised a motorsport first.

11 globally recognised celebrities will drive the new Gen3 Evo at the Miami International Autodrome – the home of F1's Miami Grand Prix – across 5-6 March.

Each celebrity will be partnered with a team, and conduct six weeks of training before jumping into the car in Miami.

On top of that, the celebrities will be put through simulator sessions, driver coaching, hardware customisation and engineering briefings.

The aim is for the celebrities to understand the challenges of becoming an FE driver. All of the training will be filmed, with social content of the two-day event to be posted across the category's respected channels.

In addition, a feature-length documentary will be released later this year, based on how the celebrities get on over the six weeks.

Six of the 11 celebrities have been announced, and include: retired footballer Sergio Aguero, entrepreneur Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, tech content creator Cleo Abram, actor Lucien Laviscount, custom car builder and influencer Emelia Hartford and content creator Vinnie Hacker.

In due course, the remaining five celebrities will be announced, as will the team and drivers they will each work with.

"The initial reaction when I presented the concept of ‘Evo Sessions’ to our teams and partners was, ‘this is wild!’ - which is when I immediately knew we had to bring it to life," said FE CEO Jeff Dodds.

"We wanted to do something that has never been done before in motorsport; something that would give audiences  and our fan base a unique perspective into the world of a Formula E driver, through the eyes of some of their favourite online personalities.

"Formula E is the fastest growing motorsport in the world, and we have a clear target to hit half a billion fans by 2030. Through collaborating with some of the biggest names in popular culture right now, we’re able to open up Formula E to a whole new fanbase.

"I’ve been lucky enough to get behind the wheel of a Formula E racing car, but this event will be truly eye opening on what it takes to be an elite racing driver. It will uncover the world-class  ability of the drivers and teams alike and highlight the raw skill and ingenuity we have in the championship."
