Mercedes led a 1-2 on the final day of the opening F1 pre-season test in Barcelona, with Lewis Hamilton edging out new teammate George Russell. Hamilton posted a time of 1:19.138 on the Soft C5 tyre to finish just under a tenth clear of Russell, who used the same compound. Red Bull were a few tenths further back with Sergio Perez (Soft C4) and Max Verstappen (Medium C3) respectively, as the two title-challenging teams of 2021 locked out the top four positions on the timing screens.
