Auctioned Hulkenberg helmet raises large sum for charity

Nico Hulkenberg provided his Dutch Grand Prix helmet as an item for auction, which raised a large sum for cancer research.

An auction featuring the race-worn helmet from Nico Hulkenberg at the Dutch Grand Prix has fetched €70,500.

The proceedings raised from the auction go towards Lymph&Co, a company that conducts scientific research to create better and more effective treatments for patients who have Lymphoma, a form of cancer.

Three items were auctioned shortly after the race from Zandvoort, where Hulkenberg crossed the line in 11th place.

They were his race-worn helmet, his race shoes that were donated at the last moment and the winning trophy from the Dutch Grand Prix, offered by Royal Delft.

Hulkenberg worked together with Prince Bernhard and the director of the Dutch GP, Robert van Overdijk, for the campaign.
