Aston Martin praise 'huge energy' brought by Alonso

The presence of Fernando Alonso at Aston Martin has been a huge plus for the team, according to Technical Director Dan Fallows, as they look to improve their fortunes in 2023.

Aston Martin Technical Director, Dan Fallows, has praised the "huge energy" brought by Fernando Alonso since joining the team at the start of January. Alonso has been the talk of the paddock since displaying impressive pace in the AMR23, with the team potentially looking quicker than Mercedes in the race. Fallows said that the two-time World Champion has impressed so far, praising his work ethic and feedback that has enabled the team to get to the stage where they are currently at on track. "He's clearly a very impressive chap. He’s incredibly motivated, incredibly competitive and he's brought a huge amount of energy to the team," Fallows told media, including RacingNews365.com . "I think he has been very impressive from the moment he got in the car last year. His feedback is where you'd expect it to be for somebody with his level of experience. "But he has the ability to diagnose issues with the car in a way that, as an engineering team, we're very, very pleased with."

Difference to Vettel

When asked about how Alonso compares to four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel, who departed the team at the end of 2022, he says the "infectious" attitude from the Spaniard is what separates the pair. He added: "They are different people, for certain, for sure. But I think Fernando has still got a huge amount of energy, he is still very, very keen to go racing. "He keeps saying that he'll just carry on as long as he can possibly go. And that's very infectious. "It's been great for the team for him to come around and say hello to people. We have various Spanish members of the team as well who are incredibly excited that he's arrived. "So yeah, it's been great having [him] on board so far."
