Another Schumacher making news, joins Formula 3 ranks

While Mick Schumacher is the latest member of the family to make the Formula 1 grid, he isn't the only youngster making headway in the world of motorsport with word that Ralf's son, David Schumacher, will take part in the upcoming Formula 3 championship.

David Schumacher, the son of former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher, will take part in the upcoming FIA Formula 3 championship with Trident. The 19-year-old had a challenging rookie campaign in the series in 2020, starting with Charouz Racing System before making the switch to Carlin Buzz Racing after the race in Spain. His best result was a 12th place finish at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, as he finished the campaign with no points. “I’m delighted to race with Trident Motorsport this year and I think we have excellent chances,” Schumacher told Trident's official website. “The team has been doing a really good job and the car was amazing in the two tests in Barcelona and Jerez. I’m looking forward to the season ahead. I can feel that the team is really passionate about what they are doing so I have a great feeling for this year.” The FIA Formula 3 season gets under way with the Spanish Grand Prix on May 7-9.
