Alpine will race with a tweaked livery and a new team name in 2022, having secured a new long-term title sponsor. Austrian water treatment company BWT have joined Alpine after departing the Aston Martin team at the end of 2021, confirming the rumours that have swirled about the potential switch in recent months. The arrival of BWT as a title sponsor also means that the Renault-owned team will race with a revised team name this season. The French outfit will be renamed as BWT Alpine F1 Team for 2022, with the famous pink of BWT now also being incorporated into the blue livery of the Alpine car.
Alpine secures a new title sponsor
BWT parted ways with Aston Martin having expressed frustration about the team not running a pink livery after years of the former Force India/Racing Point cars racing in the striking colour scheme. It is no surprise then that Alpine have emphasised that the 2022 livery will use BWT's "iconic pink branding" to "spread the message of sustainability and social responsibility further around the world". Alpine's securing of BWT as their new title sponsor is their first such deal in two years, and the first since rebranding to Alpine from Renault. In 2020, Renault raced with title sponsor DP World – that deal coming to an end after just one year. The new-look A522 is set to be revealed to the world on 21 February, just two days ahead of the start of pre-season testing in Barcelona.
