Alpine have named French footballing icon and World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane as a new ambassador at the launch of their new 2023 Formula 1 car.
The A523 was launched at an event in London with Esteban Ocon being joined by new teammate Pierre Gasly as launch season for 2023 was complete with the unveiling of the new machine.
After the car had been unveiled Zidane, who won the 1998 FIFA World Cup after a Man of the Match performance in the final against Brazil in Paris, was introduced as a 'Brand Ambassador.'
"I've seen great things and I am ever so happy to be a part of the Alpine team," former Real Madrid manager Zidane explained.
"I had the opportunity to meet Laurent [Rossi], Davide [Brivio] and the Alpine team at a Grand Prix and I think we had a good exchange and shared everything together and I think Laurent had a project to give the opportunity to young people to have their opportunities.
Alpine CEO Rossi praised Zidane's winning mindset, which included four victories in the UEFA Champions League as a player and manager, along with his determination while believing the team could be "inspired" by Zidane's appointment.
