Alpine has confirmed its driver line-up for the 2026 F1 season, ending months of speculation.

Having tied down Pierre Gasly to a multi-year extension earlier this year, various rumours swirled over the identity of his team-mate.

Earlier in the year, Alpine executive advisor Flavio Briatore declared that Franco Colpainto and Paul Aron were the primary options for the second 2026 drive.

Alpine has now confirmed that Colalpinto will remain in the seat for next year's campaign.

Colapinto moved across the Alpine stable after completing the second half of the 2024 season with Williams, scoring a best result of eighth.

After commencing the year on the sidelines, the 22-year-old was promoted to a full-time Alpine seat this year after the Miami Grand Prix, replacing Jack Doohan.

An Alpine statement declared that Colapinto's confirmation for next year was "a continuation of the multi-year agreement to secure Franco's driving services made in January earlier this year."

The statement added: "Franco will partner and drive alongside Pierre Gasly, who recently committed his long-term future to the team.

"Together, they will collectively help drive the team forward and bring further stability and continuity for the 2026 season, which presents a new opportunity and fresh start for the team in a new regulation era.

"Since coming to Enstone and making his competitive debut for the team at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix back in May, Franco has shown promise and potential with gradual improvement across the season and has also developed a positive relationship with the team and engineers."
