Alonso lets Russell know he's a future world champion

Two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso labelled Williams driver George Russell a future world champion, when he signed the Englishman's helmet at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Spanish F1 superstar Fernando Alonso had an interesting messaging for George Russell when the pair swapped helmets at the Monaco Grand Prix. Alonso who won back to back world titles in 2005 and 2006 has always been very positive about Russell's future in the sport. The Spanish champion has previously stated that he has been impressed with the British driver's performances over the years especially in an uncompetitive Willams car. In his latest message however, Alonso took it a step further by calling the Mercedes junior a future F1 world champion when he signed his helmet at F1's flagship race. The message read, "George, you rock!! Future World Champ" with Russell tweeting a photo of the exchange from his official Twitter handle. The full tweet can be viewed below
