Abiteboul on Ricciardo tattoo bet: I'm a man of my word!

Former Renault team boss Cyril Abiteboul has confirmed he won't be backing out of the bet he made with Daniel Ricciardo, but that he may seek some changes..

Former Renault team boss Cyril Abiteboul has confirmed he has every intention of following through on his bet with Daniel Ricciardo from last season. Abiteboul, Ricciardo's team boss last year, made a bet with the Australian that he would get a tattoo of Ricciardo's design if he was able to score a podium over the course of the season. Ricciardo managed this, with a third place finish at the Nurburgring ensuring Abiteboul would either have to get a tattoo or pull out of the bet. Ricciardo revealed that he has a design picked out for Abiteboul already. Speaking to RacingNews365.com on Friday, he explained what he has in mind for his former boss. "So I mean, ultimately, what I want to do is get a traditional tattoo, like a pair of hands, like shaking hands," Ricciardo explained. "So that kind of represents like the deal that we made. And it's just a cool traditional tattoo. "And then, kind of my vision is to have like a honeybadger head, like peeking over. Just making sure that the deal got done!" Abiteboul, who left Renault at the end of 2020 and is not currently working in F1, has confirmed that he won't be backing out of the deal, but said he may have to have a second think about Ricciardo's chosen design. "I am a man of my word and ready for any tattoo," Abiteboul told RacingNews365 on Saturday. "I still get to chose size and location! As soon as the restrictions are waived! "A bet is a bet! I may just ask for a right to edit the style of the beast!"
