Will Stevens delivered a stunning lap at the end of qualifying to secure the #12 Cadillac pole position for the World Endurance Championship Six Hours of São Paulo.
The Briton edged out the sister #38 Cadillac by just 0.048s, with the American manufacturer having both of its cars on the front row. It won with a one-two in Brazil last year. The #36 Alpine secured third.
There was disappointment for championship leader and Le Mans winner #7, which struggled in qualifying and could only manage 16th on the grid.
In LMGT3, the #23 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin secured class pole, ahead of the #79 Mercedes and #87 Lexus.
Remarkably, five different manufacturers featured in the top five in LMGT3 qualifying, as the #69 BMW and #77 Ford qualified in fourth and fifth.
