Formula E is back this weekend for the third round of its season, the Miami E-Prix!
After racing at the Homestead-Miami Speedway last year, Formula E has changed locations for its Miami round, moving to a venue very familiar to motorsport fans.
For the first time competitively, Formula E will race this weekend on a shortened version of the Miami International Autodrome, located at the iconic Hard Rock Stadium.
It is the same circuit that hosts Formula 1’s Miami Grand Prix; however, Formula E will use a shorter layout (see bottom of article).
This weekend’s layout consists of 14 corners and measures 2.32km in length. It features three heavy braking zones, but is likely to produce very quick lap times.
Formula E used the venue last year for its inaugural Evo Sessions, which saw an array of influencers and celebrities drive the current Gen3 Evo cars. Interestingly, the layout for this weekend’s race is shorter than the one used for the celebrity event.
Nick Cassidy enters the third of 17 rounds as the championship leader, following a podium in the São Paulo season opener and a first victory for Citroën in Mexico City a fortnight ago.
He holds a four-point lead over Jake Dennis, whose Andretti outfit will celebrate its home race this weekend. Reigning world champion Oliver Rowland is a further two points adrift in third.
