Jean-Eric Vergne defeated Antonio Felix da Costa to secure pole position for the second race of the Portland E-Prix, breaking the record for most poles in the category.

The pair defeated Sam Bird and Robin Frijns respectively to progress to the final, whilst there was nothing that could stop Vergne from a third pole of 2024.

Championship leader Nick Cassidy did progress to the duels, but was knocked out of the quarter-finals by Vergne.

Cassidy will start from sixth, directly ahead of championship rival Pascal Wehrlein in seventh. The third title contender, Mitch Evans, failed to make the duels and starts from the sixth row of the grid.

Reigning world champion Jake Dennis suffered another tough qualifying, and was eliminated in the group stage.
