Piastri issues blunt response over Tsunoda collision

Oscar Piastri has branded the collision between himself and Yuki Tsunoda in the closing stages of the Mexico City Grand Prix simply as "hard racing."

Tsunoda was racing Piastri for eighth place when the AlphaTauri driver used the DRS to get close on the start/finish straight on Lap 48, but had to stay behind.

Next time around, Tsunoda tried again, but contact was made between the pair - with the Japanese racer dropping out of the points while Piastri regrouped to take eighth.

Despite the incident, Piastri claimed he was unaware of Tsunoda spinning out at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Disappointment for Tsunoda

"I think it was hard racing. I'm not really sure what happened to me, I was just braking and we touched wheels," Piastri explained to media including RacingNews365.

For his part, Tsunoda vented his frustration out over team radio in an inaudible message to his engineer, Mattia Spini.

"I don't want to comment about these things, I think I already commented on it when I was driving," he said.

Tsunoda hopes for a better outing at the Sao Paulo GP, where he expects the AT04 to be strong and enable the team to continue its recent fight for points.

"We knew that [the track] suits us well here in [Mexico], in Brazil there could be some potential as there's a lot of slow-speed corners," he said.

"So maybe there is a chance as well, but probably I don't expect as much as here but still I hope we will be in a place to fight for P10."
