The Qatar Grand Prix was the scene of a major milestone for McLaren, as the team secured its 500th podium in Formula 1.

Oscar Piastri crossed the line in second place to officially seal the tally while team-mate Lando Norris followed him home behind to add another podium to the list.

McLaren has enjoyed a resurgent F1 season after starting the campaign on the back foot and languishing towards the rear of the field.

However, it installed a successful upgrade at the Austrian Grand Prix that launched it up the pecking order and has continued to add developments to MCL60 ever since.

Its first podium of the season came at Silverstone, where Norris finished in second place. He has since added four more top-three finishes.

Piastri, meanwhile, is enjoying a strong rookie campaign and has scored back-to-back podium finishes in Japan and Qatar as he continues to impress during his first year in F1.

McLaren's achievement in Qatar sees it become just the second team in history to reach 500 podiums after Ferrari.

The Italian squad's 500th top-three finish came at the 2002 Hungarian Grand Prix courtesy of Michael Schumacher.
