Ferrari win – but did they botch their strategy again?

Carlos Sainz took his maiden Grand Prix win with victory at Silverstone, but teammate Charles Leclerc was aggrieved at being on the wrong end of a strategy call.

Carlos Sainz took his maiden F1 victory in an enthralling British Grand Prix that featured fantastic wheel-to-wheel racing, dramatic accidents, and some drivers finishing in surprising positions. To discuss the key issues from Silverstone, Michael Butterworth is joined by RacingNews365.com 's Editorial Director, Dieter Rencken. Charles Leclerc was again the victim of a questionable strategy call from Ferrari, who elected not to pit the Monegasque when the Safety Car was deployed late in the race, causing Leclerc to drop from first to fourth by the flag. Should Ferrari have prioritised Leclerc over Sainz? A horror crash for Zhou Guanyu brought the issue of safety into sharp focus. The Chinese driver was thankfully unhurt after his car hurtled upside down towards the barriers, but with the Alfa Romeo vaulting the armco and ending up wedged against the catch fencing, does more need to be done on safety? Max Verstappen finished only seventh after being hamstrung by floor damage, but with Leclerc only fourth, will the Dutchman be content at his damage limitation? And with so many recent races at Silverstone having been thrillers, why does the Northamptonshire track perennially lend itself to exciting racing? All this and much more on this edition of the RacingNews365.com podcast!
