F1 rookie Arvid Lindblad encountered an issue with his Racing Bulls just as the Canadian Grand Prix was poised to start.
With the field lined up on the grid at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, and all five formation lights lit up, it was clear there was an issue as they remained illuminated for a lengthy period of time.
Even Kimi Antonelli, from second on the grid, inched out of his box in anticipation of the lights disappearing before stopping again.
It materialised that Lindblad had a problem with the gearbox as he was unable to select a gear, resulting in an extra formation lap for the remainder as he was attended to by the marshals who wheeled him into pit lane, where he eventually retired.
Due to the time taken, and as the field lined up for a second time on the grid, race control determined that yet another formation lap was required.
It meant the race being reduced from 70 laps to 68 laps.
