Alex Albon has provided an update on his ongoing recovery to treat appendicitis ahead the Singapore Grand Prix. The team replaced him with Nyck de Vries, who had already been testing with Aston Martin on the Friday earlier in the weekend. Albon released an update on Twitter saying that he felt "pretty good" and praised the work from the doctors in San Gerardo hospital, but admits that it might be tough to return in time for Singapore in two weeks. Treatment more complicated than it seemed for Albon

On Saturday morning Albon was admitted to San Gerardo hospital and underwent laparoscopic surgery, however the treatment was not as straightforward as it first seemed. While the initial operation was successful, it later emerged that he suffered from "unexpected post-operative anaesthetic complications" which led to respiratory failure. Albon was transferred to intensive care and had to be put on mechanical ventilation. The team said he was able to recover overnight and return back home on the Tuesday to focus on his recovery for Singapore.
